Tuesday's primary elections delivered key victories
and at least one major upset in several closely watched races across the country.
Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan won the Democratic nomination for U.S.
Senate.
In Minnesota's race for governor,
Republican Lisa Damuth defeated a Trump-endorsed challenger to win her party's nomination.
Minnesota Public Radio's Dana Ferguson reports.
Damuth faced MyPillow founder and Trump-endorsed candidate Mike Lindell and businessman Kendall Qualls,
who received the Minnesota Republican Party's endorsement in May.
Damuth, Minnesota's House Speaker, campaigned on a message of fighting fraud in state government programs.
And of leading a cross-divided government in a tied house.
I've had the honor and responsibility of pulling Democrats and Republicans together
and finding a way forward and getting things done for Minnesota.
That experience has equipped me for what is next.
She will face Democrat Amy Klobuchar, the state's senior senator, in the general election.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, Minnesota will have its first woman as governor.

and in Connecticut, former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin defeated longtime Democratic Congressman John Larson.
