44 分钟Hey there, it's Gideon.
Our team is off for Labor Day, but we have a special story for you instead.
As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, The Atlantic spent time with the family of Kevin Dowdell.
He was a lieutenant in the New York Fire Department who led an elite team.
They were among the first responders racing to help people escape
the South Tower of the World Trade Center as it collapsed.
As crews later scoured the wreckage of Ground Zero,
they found a tool that belonged to Dowdell, but they never found him.
His sons, Patrick and James, were just teenagers at the time.
Their dad had always told them, don't sit on the sidelines.
Do things.
So they decided to go to Ground Zero with firefighters from his unit to keep on looking.
Their story, reported by Sally Jenkins, was the Apple News+ story of the month for August.
Have a great holiday, and we'll be back with the news tomorrow.
A Firefighter Family, 25 Years After 9/11.
