This is not the future we were promised.
Like, how about that for a tech line for the show?
From the BBC, this is The Interface,
the show that explores how tech is rewiring your week and your world.
This isn't about quarterly earnings or about tech reviews.
It's about what technology is actually doing to your work and your politics, your everyday life.
and all the bizarre ways people are using the internet.

Hello, and welcome to News Hour.
It's coming to you live from the BBC World Service studios in central London.
I'm Tim Franks.
We're starting inevitably with the war in the Middle East,
but not to head initially at least to Lebanon,
hit hard again today by the Israeli military in its campaign against the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement,
nor to Iran itself,
which also has been struck by the near uncontested might of the Israeli and US air force.
We will hear from Iran a little bit later,
but we're starting instead with a dramatic image from the Strait of Hormuz,
that narrow channel of water separating Iran from Gulf Arab countries.
