单集简介 ...

It's a simple idea on the surface; host a rival to the olympics in which people can take performance enhancing drugs. But as The Economist's Natasha Loder has found out over the past year, the games are just a shop window for a much bigger and more controversial idea – that we can all live better, happier lives by taking performance enhancing drugs. And Enhanced is here to sell them to you.  Topics covered: DopingOlympics OptimisationBiohacking  Links to articles: https://www.economist.com/interactive/1843/2026/05/21/dope-and-glory-inside-the-enhanced-games  Listen to what matters most, from global politics and business to science and technology—Subscribe to Economist Podcasts+ For more information about how to access Economist Podcasts+, please visit our FAQs page or watch our video explaining how to link your account. • The Economist.

  • Improbably perhaps, today I'd like to start with a clip from Joe Rogan's

  • unfeasibly popular podcast, when he was joined by Aaron De Souza and Christian Angermayer,

  • co-founders of The Enhanced Games.

  • The Olympics are going to be the natural sports competition

  • where we're going to see what the best of a human 1.0 can do.

  • And at the enhanced games, there will be what the best unleashed human,

  • superhuman can do.

  • For those of you who haven't heard of it, it's a competition

  • where athletes are positively encouraged to use performance-enhancing drugs.

  • Unleashed, indeed.

  • The first ever edition happened back in May.

  • From the outside, it might seem like an isolated event,

  • a fringe Olympics for disgraced dopers or drugged-up hopefuls, maybe.

  • But let me tell you, there's way more going on here

  • than just the weightlifting and the swimming and the sprinting.

  • And I think hopefully in five years, we're going to say,

  • yes, enhanced games were a defining both moment and then movement.

  • Mr. Angermayer's movement is really what this is all about.

  • I'm Jason Palmer, and this is The Weekend Intelligence.
