It's the fastest growing genre in Hollywood.
Films like Backrooms and Obsessions have broken box office records and made millions of dollars.
But the directors of those films didn't go to film school and work their way up the Hollywood ladder.
They learned their craft on YouTube.
And today, you're going to hear why horror is booming in Hollywood
and how YouTubers are reshaping the film industry.

Hello, how are you?
I'm good.
To start off with, Mel, can you just tell me a bit about your love of horror?
Yeah, I have loved horror since I was far too young to watch it.
It is something that has followed me all the way through up until my age now.
I love that horror is now getting the attention that it has always deserved.
I think when you're younger, you may see it as something that is like so terrifying and so scary.
But I think I like to see the light in it.
I like to see like the comedy aspect of it as well.
So I think it's just such a fun, different kind of genre.
