The Congressional Budget Office says the war with Iran has cost the U.S.
More than $38 billion.
That's as of August 1st.
The CBO released the numbers hours before the House passed another War Powers Resolution
that seeks to block President Trump from continuing the war without congressional approval.
It's the third time the House has passed such a measure.
Seven Republicans joined Democrats to pass this latest resolution, three more than the last vote.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is asking U.S.
Military commanders to send well-groomed, physically fit troops to a gathering in Quantico, Virginia later this month.
NPR's Quill Lawrence reports.
Hegseth has asked military leaders to nominate high-performing junior officers
and sergeants to attend what he's calling a state-of-the-force address at Marine Base Quantico and specified
that they be impeccably groomed and meet physical height-to-weight ratios, according to documents seen by NPR.
Last year, Hegseth hastily summoned generals and admirals from around the world to attend a speech
about what he called the warrior ethos that included culture war issues like trans troops
and dispensations for some troops to grow beards for religious or health reasons.
Since he took the Pentagon's top job, Hegseth has often done physical training with troops at bases around the world.
