26 分钟Through an overload of information to get to the heart of the story.
This is The Point.
As China and Pakistan celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties, how can they join hands to better confront climate change?
And what does this relationship mean for the broader Global South?
I sat down for an exclusive interview with Her Excellency Dr. Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal,
Pakistan's Minister of State for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination.
Dr. Shezra, welcome to The Point.
Thank you very much and thank you for having me on your show.
It's our pleasure.
First, help us understand your story with the cause of green development, climate change and ecological issues.
What first inspired you to become committed to these causes?
Well, as a Pakistani, we have witnessed and all Pakistanis have witnessed that climate change is not just a word.
It's not just a story that you hear or that you read about.
It's an actual lived reality in Pakistan.
And for many years now, we have been witnessing the devastating effects of climate change in Pakistan.
And when, especially in 2022, we had those massive floods, which affected the lives of about 30...
33 million people who either lost their lives or were displaced, they lost their animals, their husbandry.
And we had economic loss of about $30 billion.
So that was a very huge wake-up call for all of us.
And after that, of course, we've still been witnessing in 2025, again, we had floods, we see droughts.
