23 分钟Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to English Learning for Curious Minds by Leonardo English,
the show where you can listen to fascinating stories
and learn weird and wonderful things about the world at the same time as improving your English.
I'm Alistair Budge, and today we are going to start a three-part miniseries called Tales from the Wild West.
Instead of talking about the...
History of the Wild West, we're going to learn about it through the stories of three famous historical characters.
In this episode, part one, it'll be Wyatt Earp, a man who, to quote his Wikipedia page,
was at various points a lawman, a buffalo hunter, a saloon keeper, a miner, a brothel keeper,
and a boxing referee, which is a kind of resume you just don't see nowadays.
Next up, it'll be Bass Reeves, a man born into slavery who went on to become
one of the most feared and successful lawmen in American history.
And in part three, it'll be Geronimo, the Native American leader
whose life and surrender tell a very different story about the reality of life in the Wild West.
As with all of our mini-series, parts two and three will be member-only episodes,
so if you'd like to listen to those, as well as hundreds of other member-only episodes,
and unlock all of the study packs, interactive transcripts and more,
now might be a good time to become a member of Leonardo English.
You can find out more about that over at leonardoenglish.com.
Okay then, let's not waste a minute and get right into it.
