  • Yes, Europe's second biggest low-cost airline, EasyJet,

  • has agreed in principle to being sold to the US investment firm Castle Lake.

  • The deal would value the British-based carrier at nearly $7 billion.

  • Our reporter Barbara George has all the details for us.

  • So EasyJet rejected four previous approaches from Castle Lake, the US firm,

  • because the board believed the airline was being undervalued.

  • But Castle Lake has now come back with a higher offer worth about $7 billion.

  • And EasyJet are prepared to engage with the proposal.

  • But it's not a done deal yet because Castle Lake still has to make a formal offer.

  • And there are like regulatory questions to resolve around like European ownership rules.

  • OK, so what does this mean for passengers?

  • What does it mean for prices, competition, all that?

  • So in terms of passengers, nothing is likely to change like immediately.

  • EasyJet is one of Europe's largest airlines

  • and operate around 1,200 routes in valuable airports like Gatwick, Paris and Geneva.
