China's national legislature has pledged to put economic growth and domestic demand at the top of its agenda as its annual session is set open.
Lawmakers will review the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan,
examine this year's National Economic and Social Development Plan,
and deliberate on the government work report.
Key legislation under construction or under consideration includes an environmental code and new laws on child care services,
social assistance, and medical insurance.
Deputies to the Fourteens National People's Congress will also focus on measures aimed at boosting consumption and strengthening the domestic market.
An MPC spokesperson says that China will expand the supply of high-quality goods and services,
enhance services consumption, and improve consumer trade-in program.
