  • Hello and welcome to Super Great Kids Stories.

  • Wise tales from storytellers around the world which will make you laugh and sometimes

  • recommended for ages 5 to 105. I'm Kim and I love stories.

  • This week we have a story told by Gail Ross from the Cherokee Nation.

  • Her beautiful storytelling comes from her rich Native American heritage and from her grandmother who was a storyteller.

  • It's called Why Thunder is a Friend to the Cherokees.

  • A little warning, it's quite scary.

  • It has a frightening snake in it and young boys who hunt and kill animals.

  • It's all so beautifully told, so if you're feeling brave, hold the hand of a grown-up and have a listen.

  • If scary stories are not for you, then maybe try listening to one of our many Anansi stories,

  • like Toops Anansi and the Hot Pepper Soup.

  • How are you this week, Super Great Kids?

  • I'm happy because I've been doing lots of cycling.

  • I cycled down the River Thames to London this week.

  • I saw lots of children playing with their families.

  • Children are so good at playing and grown-ups sometimes get so busy that they forget to play.

  • So perhaps you could ask your grown-ups if they'd like to join in your games.

  • I've also been enjoying dancing around to Rafi songs with my granddaughter Dorothy.

  • Dancing and being daft makes me very happy.

  • If you don't know Rafi, he's an Egyptian-born Canadian children's singer-songwriter and musician.
