52 分钟Welcome to Macro Musings, where each week we pull back the curtain
and take a closer look at the most important macroeconomic issues of the past, present, and future.
I am your host, David Beckworth, a Senior Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University,
and I'm glad you decided to join us.
Our guest today is John Roll.
John is the governor of the Central Bank of the Bahamas.
He is a longtime veteran of the institution.
He joins us today to discuss what it's like to manage
a central bank in a small open economy with a fixed exchange rate.
He also joins us to discuss the sand dollar, the CBDC of the Bahamas, and other topics.
John, welcome to the program.
David, thank you for having me.
It's a pleasure to be here.
Well, it's great to have you on.
It's great to have a central bank governor.
We just had another one from the Rix Bank.
Now, that's a small open economy central bank with a floating exchange rate.
So it's great to get your perspective because you're a small open economy central bank with a fixed exchange rate.
So a different set of issues, some similar, some different.
And it's great to work through all of those implications.
