This is the Moth Radio Hour.

Curating a Moth Radio Hour is a process.
Sometimes it begins with the inspiration of a particular story or a theme, something that calls to us personally.
We've had episodes inspired by shoes, letters, legends, and even the color green.
From there, we'll listen through our archive to find other stories
that play well together and then start producing the hour.
But other times, the process is different.
There might just be a handful of stories we love that don't fit into a specific category,
and the hour becomes like a quilt with different textures, colors,
and patterns, like this hour, which I call Soul Searching, Soul Food,
and the Upside Down, a title which you will figure out as we go along.
First up is Alzo Slade, who told this in Austin, Texas, where we partnered with the Paramount Theater.

It's Saturday morning.
I'm eight years old, living right here in Austin, Texas.
Now this is back in the day when cartoons only came on on Saturdays.
So I'm plopped down in front of my TV set, wearing my Green Lantern Underoos pajamas, watching Scooby-Doo.
I just poured a fresh bowl of Coco Rice Krispies
with ice cold milk that we all know turns into delicious chocolate milk as you eat it.
