China is calling for more unity, confidence,
and concrete action from the international community to improve global governance.
The country released a white paper on global governance on Wednesday.
The White Paper outlines China's principles, proposals,
and actions on global governance, aims to foster broader consensus within the international community,
ensure more effective responses to global challenges, and build a more just and equitable global governance system.
So why does the world need governance reform?
What does China's vision for a fairer and more effective international system look like?
And how can these ideas be translated into real benefits for people around the world?
Hello and welcome to the panel discussion of World Today.
I'm Do Hong Yu in Beijing.
To answer these questions, we're joined by Professor Qu Qiang with the Belton
Road Research Center at Misu University of China, Joseph Gregory Mahoney,
professor of politics and international relations at East China Normal University,
and Zun Ahmad Khan, research fellow with the Center for China and Globalization.
So thank you very much, dear panelists.
Let's start with Professor Mahoney here.
How would you assess the current state of global governance?
Is it still fit for purpose or does it need a major reform?
