In Florida, a big win for Democratic Socialist State Representative Angie Nixon,
who beat Lieutenant Colonel Alex Vindman, who outraised her by 16 to 1. And Pierce Ashley Lopez has more.
Nixon will be running against Republican Senator Ashley Moody, an incumbent who was endorsed by President Trump.
And moving forward, a big question is how Nixon positions herself as she tries to get votes from in a red state,
and she ran on a lot of progressive ideas like Medicare for All, universal childcare, and raising taxes on billionaires.
She also joined the Democratic Socialists of America, but was never endorsed by the group.
And Piers Ashley Lopez.
Meanwhile, Florida could elect its first black governor.
Republican Representative Byron Donalds, who is backed by President Trump, easily won his GOP primary race for governor.
He'll face Democrat David Jolly, a former Republican.
And in Alaska's key Senate race, former Congresswoman Mary Peltola
and Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan have advanced to the November ballot.
A dozen Republican-led states are appealing the latest court order that blocks
President Trump's efforts to limit mail-in voting for this fall's midterms.
