单集简介 ...

In this episode, I walk you through the practical skills I teach my clients with social anxiety when they want to feel more comfortable talking to strangers and connecting with others. Instead of expecting conversation to suddenly feel natural, we start small and build these skills through repetition. We begin with open body language, a gentle smile, and brief eye contact before working our way up to saying hello, offering a compliment, asking a simple question, and eventually practicing small talk.

  • If you want to learn how to talk to strangers

  • when you have health anxiety, this is going to be the exact episode for you.

  • The reason for that is my name is Kimberly Quinlan.

  • I am an anxiety specialist.

  • I spend my whole day helping people with specific anxiety struggles,

  • and I have helped hundreds of people with social anxiety out in the field.

  • Out in public, helping them manage their anxiety as they practice talking to strangers,

  • going out, ordering things at the supermarket, ordering things on the phone.

  • We actually do this practice in session.

  • I am an exposure and response prevention therapist.

  • And what that means is I practice with my clients.

  • I don't just talk about it.

  • I send them out to practice and I go with them.

  • We walk across the street into local outdoor mall and we practice these skills together.

  • And so today I'm going to walk you through exactly what I teach my clients when we do this.

  • Now, I want you to stay till the end because the end,

  • I'm actually going to give you specific homework, the exact specific homework I give my clients as well.

  • And the reason for that is, again, you can just sit and talk about this and learn about it,

  • but it's actually not going to move the needle until you actually go out and practice it.

  • And I wish I could be there with you in real time,
