Try a practice in accepting difficult feelings like anger or irritation to help keep your cool, feel better overall, and find calm with contemplative social scientist Eve Ekman.  How To Do This Practice: Settle with your breath: Take a few slow, deep breaths, lengthening your spine as you inhale and relaxing your face and body as you exhale. Notice your body: Scan your body with curiosity and observe any sensations without trying to change them. Recall a mild frustration: Bring to mind a recent situation that made you feel slightly irritated or frustrated. Release the story: Let go of the memory and focus only on where you feel the emotion in your body. Give the emotion space: Allow the sensations to exist without judging or resisting them, noticing how they naturally shift over time. Close with kindness: Take one final breath and remind yourself to meet future moments of anger with curiosity, acceptance, and compassion. Scroll down for a transcription of this episode. 单集文稿 ...

  • I've been trying a different kind of chewing gum lately.

  • Underbrush from Nathan & Sons, and it's become part of my daily routine.

  • I brush in the morning and at night,

  • but after lunch, there's usually a long stretch where I'm not really doing anything for my teeth.

  • That's where underbrush fits in.

  • You chew it for about 5 to 10 minutes as a simple oral care habit between brushing,

  • and then you can spit it out or keep chewing if you enjoy the texture.

  • What makes it different is that it's made with hydroxyapatite.

  • The same mineral our teeth are made from,

  • along with natural ingredients like mastic, spruce, chickle, acacia, and myrrh.

  • Because it's made with natural saps instead of the typical synthetic gum base,

  • it has a firmer, more satisfying chew that I really like.

  • I also appreciate that this isn't some giant candy company.

  • Underbrush is made from scratch by the Nathan and Sons team in their Northern California facility,

  • and they're still a small founder-led company that's hands-on with making, packing, and shipping every order.

  • So if you're looking for a simple daily upgrade for your oral care routine between brushing,

  • check out Underbrush from Nathan and Sons.

  • I'm Dacher Keltner.

  • Welcome to Happiness Break, where we take a few moments to try a practice to support our minds and hearts

  • and help us feel happier through the rest of the day.
