单集简介 ...

“Red, White and Who?” The Journal’s election mini-series is back to cover the midterms. Every Wednesday, Ryan Knutson talks with reporters around the country about issues important to voters. This week: In 2024, President Trump made historic gains with voters in South Texas, especially Latinos. Now, many of these same voters are souring on the president and his party and considering swinging to Democrats in this year’s midterms. WSJ’s Elizabeth Findell and producer Matt Kwong talk to voters there about Trump, the senate race between James Talarico and Ken Paxton, and the issues that matter to them. 单集文稿 ...

  • Our colleague Elizabeth Fendell and producer Matt Kwong recently went to see a house in South Texas.

  • A house that was supposed to be finished by now, but it had no front door.

  • And there was plywood piled up around the property.

  • Hey, Benny, how you doing?

  • Sorry, I was working.

  • Good, good, good.

  • Sorry, y'all weren't hitting behind the porta potty.

  • Don't worry.

  • How are you?

  • Nice to see you in person.

  • Just be careful with the flooring.

  • And take me back to this meeting that you had with Benny Melendez.

  • Like, who is he?

  • What did you see when you arrived to meet him?

  • Yeah, Benny Melendez is a home builder in the Rio Grande Valley.

  • We went and met up with him at a house that is under construction in San Juan.

  • Pulled up there and saw this partially finished home and a very quiet atmosphere.

  • We're standing in the driveway, but it's all dirt.

  • And there was something on this property that he wanted to show you.

  • Yeah, he wanted to show us the fence that is around the house.
