The U.S. Military says it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers yesterday after Iran targeted a U.S.
Warship.
NPR's Hadil al-Shelchi reports Iran has retaliated by targeting U.S.
Military assets in Jordan.
The U.S. Military said its warship evaded Iranian ballistic missiles
twice over the past two days and continued to patrol waters near the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, the U.S.
Central Command said it destroyed five crude oil carriers
of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the Gulf of Oman and near Harg Island.
Shortly after, Iran said it had attacked a U.S.
Base in Jordan, and Jordanian forces said they intercepted 18 ballistic missiles in its airspace.
This came hours after Iran said its forces seized an unmanned U.S.
Submarine in the Strait of Hormuz.
In response to that, the U.S.
Military said one of its underwater drones had malfunctioned earlier
this week and that it did not collect sensitive information.
