  • Hello and welcome to your second helping of Newscast on Monday the 20th of July.

  • We're going to be looking at Andy Burnham's cabinet picks,

  • but first of all we're going to look at your entries for the great office sweepstake

  • where you try to predict the picks.

  • We had lots of them.

  • Here is a little sample.

  • James says, hello, my predictions for Andy Burnham's cabinet are Chancellor Shabana Mahmood,

  • Home Secretary Wes Streeting, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.

  • Michael says, I'm going to cheat on this one and send two versions.

  • If that disqualifies me, so be it.

  • But based on Argentina this week, play dirty, play hard.

  • My head says, Chancellor Mahmood, home Healy, foreign Cooper.

  • But my marrow says, Chancellor Cooper, home, sticking with Mahmood, and foreign, David Lord Middleband.

  • And thank you to Aisling, who played the game in the pub with her friends

  • and their final picks were Chancellor Shabana Mahmood, Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, Home Secretary Lisa Nandy.

  • Aisling says we did attempt the rest of the cabinet and we'll be marking our own homework,

  • but won't bore you with all of our guesses.

  • Thank you to everyone who sent in an entry for the great office sweepstake.

  • They were fascinating to read and a great little time capsule of where all the speculation was in the last few days.

  • But a grand total of zero people predicted the correct lineup of the top offices of state.
