As G7 leaders gather in France, allies have been pressing President Trump
to break the deadlock in Russia's war in Ukraine,
days after he announced a deal with Iran.
The conflict on Europe's doorstep has now lasted longer than the First World War,
and some leaders saw the deal with Iran as a chance to refocus diplomatic energies there.
The big ask from European leaders going into Tuesday's conversations in France was,
"Hey, Mr. President, we'd really like to ramp up the economic pressure."
"What is it that the US can do here?"
