单集文稿 ...

  • Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston.

  • President Trump is declining to say whether Ohio Republican Congressman Max Miller should resign from office.

  • Well, I'm not going to get involved, and that's a very sad situation.

  • And I know Max very well, but it's very, very sad that...

  • A situation like that takes place.

  • Miller's ex-wife has accused him of assaulting her and abusing their two-year-old daughter.

  • Miller denies the allegations and says he will not end his re-election campaign.

  • Several Republicans are urging him to leave Congress and withdraw from the race.

  • Republican Senator Mitch McConnell was discharged

  • from a rehab facility on Thursday and will continue recovering from his home.

  • Sylvia Goodman from Kentucky Public Radio reports McConnell has been on medical leave for nearly two months.

  • In a short statement, McConnell says he will continue a, quote,

  • intensive regimen of physical therapy from home on the advice of his doctors.

  • Speculation and conspiracy theories about the 84-year-old senator's health have crowded social media.

  • Public officials, including Democratic Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear,

  • have repeatedly called on him to be more transparent about his fitness to serve.

  • McConnell has not made any public appearances since his June hospitalization

  • and has missed more than 50 Senate roll call votes.

  • He said he was hospitalized after falling and developed a mild case of pneumonia in the hospital.

  • For NPR News, I'm Sylvia Goodman in Louisville, Kentucky.
