Wise tales from storytellers around the world which will make you laugh and sometimes cry.
Recommended for ages 5 to 105.
I'm Kim and I love stories.
Today, we have not one, but two ogre stories called The Pumpkin Seed,
which is from Korea, and The Three Old Ogres of Ni'ihau from Hawaii.
They're told by Alton Takeyama Chong.
Now, these stories are a tiny bit scary.
They have ogres in them who like to eat people for snicky snacks.
So, if ogres are not for you, then maybe you could listen to an Anansi story which is much more funny than scary.
How are you, super great kids?
I do hope that you had a very good week.
I'm happy because, well, we've got two ogre stories.
Ogres are like a cross between a troll and a giant.
They're as big as trees, bad-tempered and often have tusks.
Oh yes, and like to eat people.
Ogre stories are actually very good fun to tell.
I like their big booming voices and the fact that they usually end up losing or turning out not to be big horrid ogres
after all, but princes who 've been put under a spell, like in the story The Beauty and the Beast.
Another reason that I'm cheerful is that, as you may know, I'm travelling in Vietnam in Southeast Asia.
