For this edition of the documentary from the BBC World Service,
Kirsty Walk reunites a group of people intimately involved in a moment of modern history.
In this episode, marking 25 years since 9-11,
they reflect on the attacks of the 11th of September 2001 and the events that changed the world.
I'm at the National September 11th Memorial in Lower Manhattan.
There are hundreds of people here today.
Some, like me, looking down into the two vast square
pools that mark the footprints of the World Trade Centre's twin towers.
Some stand and simply stare into the tumbling water.
Others have brought single white roses to put into names inscribed in the granite.
Around the edges of these two pools are the names of nearly 3,000 people
who were killed here on the same day 25 years ago.
For three decades, the Twin Towers dominated New York's skyline, 110 stories high, visible across the city and beyond.
