Tuesday marks the 89th anniversary of the Lugo Bridge incident, which marked
the start of Japan's full-scale invasion of China and China's whole-nation resistance against Japanese aggression.
The incident took place on July 7, 1937, when Japanese troops attacked Chinese forces at Lugo Bridge in western Beijing.
Historians say invading Japanese forces deliberately staged the incident
and that Japan had already expanded its military presence around Beijing before the attack.
