The White River continued to swell Saturday as more rain came pouring down.
Projections indicate water could rise more than 20 feet in some areas.
The city of Indianapolis erected floodgates to try to contain the water,
but for some communities, prevention was futile.
Lisa Lamont has lived in her house near the White River for more than 40 years.
She said as the water crept up to her house that this is the worst she has ever experienced.

President Trump's envoy Jared Kushner will try to advance the ceasefire agreement in Gaza during a trip to Egypt today.
NPR's Daniel Estrin reports Israel recently rejected a plan for Gaza backed by Trump.
Kushner is traveling to the region with Tony Blair and Nikolai Mladenov, top officials on Trump's Board of Peace.
They're meeting Egyptian officials to discuss next steps for Gaza.
