16 分钟Good morning.
Dr. Anthony Fauci invokes the fifth amendment in a combative Senate hearing,
accusing committee chair Rand Paul of pursuing a vendetta.
Any reasonable person who was followed his unhinged obsession with me would readily come to the same conclusion.
Why the DNC is running low on cash and FIFA hatches a plan to sell a stake of the World Cup.
Just about everybody who's reacted has come out against it and be critical of it.
So this is a defining moment for football.
It's Thursday, July 30th.
I'm Gideon Resnick in for Shimita Basu.
This is Out the News Today.
Dr. Anthony Fauci was on Capitol Hill yesterday to face questions over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic,
the origins of the virus, and how federal funds were used in China.
It was a fiery, dramatic session, even though Fauci himself delivered one answer on repeat more than a hundred times.
On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution.
Fauci's opening remarks were his only deviation from that scripted answer.
He accused committee chair and Republican Senator Rand Paul of waging a campaign against him,
leaving him no choice but to stay quiet.
The only conclusion I can reach is that the sole reason he is calling me before this committee
is to get me to say something, anything, that could vindicate his repeated public pledges
that I end up, in his words, quote, "behind bars," unquote.
