Following last night's state dinner at the White House,
President Trump is to take Chinese leader Xi Jinping on a tour of the National Archives today.
Trump says he wants to show Xi the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
The tour caps Xi's three-day state visit that has divided the Chinese community in Washington,
D.C. Clashes broke out among groups of pro- and anti-China demonstrators Thursday, as NPR's Emily Fang reports.
Ahead of Xi's arrival in the U.S., demonstrators critical of Xi Jinping carrying bullhorns called for him to step down.
Other protesters donned Winnie the Pooh outfits because the cartoon character has become a satirical meme for Xi.
But hundreds of Xi Jinping supporters gathered Thursday morning
to greet the leader's motorcade as it headed to the White House.
They sang patriotic Chinese songs like this one and waved Chinese
flags as Chinese embassy officials coordinated their movements.
The same day, demonstrators advocating for Tibetan and Hong Kong and Uyghur rights
and critical of China's ruling party say they were attacked by mass Chinese men and had their protest flags ripped away.
