First up, the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference is holding a plenary in southern China's Hainan province.
Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee,
has delivered a keynote speech at the event, calling for dialogue to resolve conflicts and respect for diversity.
Founded in 2001, the forum is committed to promoting regional economic integration
and bringing Asian countries closer to their development goals.
And a senior United Nations official says the Boao Forum for Asia continues to play a vital role in bringing together governments
and businesses to address challenges in trade, investment, and climate action.
Amida Salcia Alice Jobana, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for the Asia and the Pacific,
says the diversity of the Asia-Pacific region, if well-managed, can be a source of strength rather than division.
