President Trump and China's leader Xi Jinping have more events scheduled
today as she continues his three-day state visit to the U.S.
No breakthroughs were reported following yesterday's discussions on issues such as the war in Iran, Taiwan, trade,
or safeguarding artificial intelligence.
NPR's Emily Fang says tech executives
and industry leaders were among those who attended last night's White House state dinner.
Trump and Xi entered the dinner with music from the U.S.
Marine Band drowning out loud human rights demonstrations against the Chinese leader outside.
Toasting to Trump's health, China's Xi Jinping heralded a, quote, new chapter in U.S.-China relations,
and Trump invited Xi and his wife to be the first guests to step inside the unfinished East Wing ballroom.
This show of banami was despite ongoing trade and geopolitical tensions with China.
And journalists from MSNOW and CNN also say they were denied access to the dinner,
despite a judge ruling this week that Trump's ban of the outlets violated the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution.
