Hi.
Welcome to eat your crust podcast.
I'm Crystal.
And I'm Jisoo.
So today, it's actually just me and Jisoo probably kind of figured that out.
We wanted to make a quick episode about this topic that we personally care a lot about, and we actually already talk about it between ourselves a lot.
And so we're like, well, why don't we just make an episode talking about it?
Yeah.
And I think this is a topic where most Asian Americans will have had these conversations with their friends, and we won't keep the mystery for too long.
The topic for today is gonna be asian representation in mainstream media, specifically movies.
Recently, there's been a lot more asian centric movies, the biggest one being crazy rich Asians, whereas a full asian cast.
And then there's also been some smaller ones, but pretty hyped up, like, to all the boys I've loved before and always be my maybe.
Yeah.
And I love that there's hype and buzz around this, because hopefully this means that this won't just be a trend, and it'll go on to inspire more asian creators and more asian movies in the future.
We're going to talk a little bit about things that we both liked and didn't like in each movie, but we're not trying to bash on these movies or say the movies were bad.
In truth, we enjoyed all three movies.
Right.
But we're just saying, like, there are some points or aspects that we think could have been done a little better in terms of asian american representation.
So I guess, like, when you're listening, take everything with a grain of salt, and these are just like, me and Jisoo's opinions on certain things, and it's totally fine if you guys agree or disagree.
I think everyone interprets these things differently.
