1 小时 13 分钟Hi.
Welcome back to eat your crust podcast.
I'm Crystal.
I'm Jisoo.
And I'm Susie.
So today we're super excited to have our guest on because she's actually a full time illustrator running her comic cat and cat comics.
She's based in Chicago, and she was.
In her past life almost a dentist.
Welcome, Susie.
Thanks for having me.
So this week, we wanted to chat with Suzy about her pretty unique path into finding her way in becoming a freelance illustrator.
Yeah, I think especially even in the world of art and even in the career of being an illustrator, there's so many different paths, and Suzy's journey from high school all the way up till now is super interesting.
So, Suzy, if you don't mind, could you kind of walk us through how you started off as a regular high school student and then became this full time illustrator now?
Sure.
It's kind of a big question to tackle because I feel like there have been a lot of steps, as you've said, like, there is a very unique path.
When I was in high school, I thought that I was going to be going into healthcare and medicine in high school itself.
Like, art was never something that was at the forefront of my mind as a career option.
I always thought it was just going to be a hobby that I did on the side.
And even in college, I devoted most of my time to taking classes only in biology, essentially.
And so it was a very long process of unlearning, I think, some of the things, expectations that I had for myself, as well as seeing more of the differences in careers that were available, because I was very naive to think, like, there was only doctor, lawyer, or maybe a teacher.
