  • Hi.

  • Welcome back to eat your cuz podcast.

  • I'm Jisoo.

  • And I'm Crystal.

  • So, currently, man, California is kind of just burning down, and it's a lot to take in right now, 2020 in general.

  • So we kind of wanted to sprinkle in a more lighthearted episode and talk about one of the things that I personally have been missing the most during this quarantine time is, like, food and eating out and things like that.

  • Yeah, I feel like crystal and I actually don't really talk about this on our podcasts a lot, but we're actually pretty decent foodies.

  • I think I would categorize us as people who don't hesitate on, like, investing money into a good food experience or, you know, watching shows about food and doing research on food and stuff.

  • So that's also one of, like, the things that brought us together, I think.

  • So I'm excited to talk about food with you today.

  • Yes.

  • All right, to kick off the episode, then, our first question for each other is, what is a dish that makes you feel the most nostalgic about childhood?

  • I really like this question because I feel like so much of growing up and being at home is, like, eating food with your family, at least for me, like, growing up, we always sat down at the dinner table together, and then my mom would prepare this, like, really, like, korean style layout of food.

  • In Korean, it's called a pabsang, which just means, like, you have your rice, your soup, and then, like, whatever meat and veggie dishes that are the banchan for the day.

  • But even though that's my most commonly eaten food, I think the dish that makes me feel the most nostalgic is kimbap.

  • Mmm.

  • So kimbap is, like, I'm sure a lot of you guys have tried it, but it's kind of like a rice roll with, like, ingredients inside, and it's, like, wrapped up sort of, like, sausage style or, like, maki style, and then you, like, slice it up into these bite sized pieces.

  • And I remember every single time I had a field trip, my mom would, like, wake up at 05:00 a.m.

  • and then, like, prep all the ingredients and roll some kimpap for me so that I could, like, eat it for breakfast and also take some on my trip to eat for lunch, because gimpal was a very, like, field trippy food in Korea, too.

  • So I guess it's cause it's, like, easy to pack, and then it's, like, easy to eat.
