Welcome back to eat your crust podcast.
I'm Crystal.
And I'm Jisoo.
So this episode is kind of an announcement episode, but it's also a bit of a mini episode where we'll be talking a lot about the holidays and how we celebrate it in our asian american households.
I feel like holidays for Asian Americans are so interesting because if you grow up really sandwiched in between two cultures, you celebrate all the asian holidays, and you also celebrate all the american holidays.
But I think it makes holidays feel a little bit diluted.
I don't know if that's just me, but Christmas at our house doesn't seem to be the same as Christmas at, like, american, american households.
Yeah, I think I have a similar feeling as you.
My family, like, barely celebrates Christmas.
It's more like, oh, this is an american holiday, and we have some days off, so let's just be together.
Yeah, totally.
Let's do this.
Let's describe, like, an all american kind of Christmas and see what we resonate with.
I feel like when I think of, like, a real white family Christmas celebration, it's like you sit around the fireplace on, like, Christmas Eve, and you have, like, a huge dinner, and then you go to sleep really early because you want to wake up in the morning and everyone runs down in, like, matching Christmas pajamas and, like, opens up all the wrapped presents under the tree.
Well, I can resonate with just one of them having a big dinner.
Oh, my God.
It's, like, the most normal part of the traditions.
To be fair, though, I think when I was younger, we tried to make Christmas a little more exciting because I think it's an exciting holiday for kids.
Ooh, that's true.
We don't do the whole, like, matching Christmas pajamas thing.
