Hi.
Welcome back to eat your crest podcast.
I'm Crystal.
And I'm Jisoo.
Today, we wanted to talk a little bit more about how our asian identity has sort of evolved over the years, specifically in the past few months or so.
This topic is actually inspired because I just moved into a new neighborhood.
And right before I moved, I had this, like, thought about how my name is Jisoo, and throughout my life, you might have heard these stories in, like, our names episode, but I feel like I've always had a pretty specific first impression when I introduced myself because my name is a little bit more, like, asian sounding or not one of those more common names that you can see in America.
So in the interest of, like, saving myself, those.
Oh, my name is Jisoo.
Sorry, what's your name again?
Like, can you repeat it again?
Like, that kind of moment.
I actually came up with a new name.
Now I go by Julie with my neighbors.
It's a nice alternative.
Why didn't you go with Jenny?
I know Jennie's my Starbucks name.
I felt like Jennie was too common.
I was like, it's not a believable name.
It's interesting because for me, I feel like it's a big change.
