Hi.
Welcome back to eat your crust podcast.
I'm Crystal.
And I'm Jisoo.
We noticed last year that a lot of people enjoyed our episode titled Christmas with my Asian Family.
I think that was, like, maybe the last episode of 2020.
So we thought it might be fun to do another episode.
On a similar vein today we wanted to talk about Thanksgiving with my asian family.
Yeah, I think Thanksgiving is kind of an interesting holiday for a lot of Asian Americans, especially if you're a more recent immigrant.
A lot of holidays that are celebrated in the US, like Christmas, for example, do have, like, a asian culture reflection, but I think Thanksgiving is weird in that it's pretty much purely american.
So I know, at least for me and my family, we never really had the emotional attachment to Thanksgiving as a holiday.
It was more of like, oh, nice.
We get time off.
Yeah, I think I have this vague memory.
I don't even know if it's true, but I think my parents asked me when I was really young, like, oh, why?
What is Thanksgiving?
And then I was like, oh, I don't know.
This is just what we learned in school.
I mean, okay, I don't know if this is a real memory, but I think it just emphasizes how, like, detached from the asian culture it can be.
I guess in a sense, it's sort of similar to the autumn festival, but the autumn festival always falls earlier in September ish because it's based on lunar calendar and all of that.
