Hi.
Welcome back to eat your crust podcast.
I'm Crystal.
And I'm Jisoo.
Today, we kind of wanted to talk about something that has been popping up in our lives a lot recently.
It's this app called be real.
So for those of you who may maybe haven't heard of it yet, it's basically kind of like an Instagram Snapchat esque app where a random time during each day the app will notify you and be like, you have two minutes to post about what you're doing right now.
So that will include a photo of what you're doing and then a selfie of you doing it, I guess.
And of course, you are allowed to post late, but if you post late, then it notifies all of your followers and friends.
Like, oh, this person posted 9 hours late or something like that.
So, yeah, it's been gaining traction in our friend groups, at least, and a lot of people have been downloading it and using it.
So we thought that we would kind of talk about this concept of being real on social media, I guess.
Yeah, definitely.
To me, this is kind of a big deal because I feel like, you know, there was a lot more variety with social media apps, especially new ones that were popping up when we were younger.
The whole transition from MySpace to Facebook to even Google, which is kind of dead now, but there was always new things to engage in.
But I feel like now that we're older, apps that kind of blow up and get really big are sort of stagnant.
So I notice when apps blow up, like, Clubhouse is an example of a random app that came and suddenly blew up, and now we have be real.
And I think it's pretty interesting to see, like, when these apps blow up, I always kind of feel like it's trying to fill a void in the market.
So with something like be real, which kind of requires you to just post whatever you're doing at a certain time without being able to post from, like, camera roll or, like, add filters to your pictures or do all these things to, like, kind of manipulate the image a little bit.
It really pushes, like, an air of authenticity.
