Understanding where to even start when you have tense shoulders, a bad knee, or back pain can be pretty daunting. Luckily for us, physical therapists have all the expertise (and a doctorate's degree to boot)! Today a physical therapist shares with us how she chose to go to PT school, what she loves about her job, and whether she 'physically therapizes' herself with her clinical knowledge.Find Allison @allisonwin_Support the Show.Follow us on social media @eatyourcrustpod

  • Hi.

  • Welcome back to Eourcrust Podcast.

  • I'm Crystal.

  • I'm Jisoo.

  • And I'm Allison.

  • This week we are bringing back the grad school series, and we have my good friend Allison on, who is a physical therapist, so she can explain the world of physical therapy and what it's like to go through school for it and her thoughts on that.

  • So welcome, Allison.

  • Hi.

  • To start off the episode, why don't you share with us why you became a physical therapist?

  • It's not that interesting of a journey or story.

  • I would say backstory a little bit.

  • Like, I grew up in a very stem focused hometown, and going into undergrad, a lot of people were like, oh, you should be an engineer, you should be a doctor.

  • All that kind of stuff.

  • So that was kind of just in the back of my mind.

  • And as I was going through school, I obviously entertained the idea of becoming a doctor, like an md, and going to medical school.

  • I went down the route, so, like, I was a bio major, took all the classes, and I kind of just did a deep dive into healthcare careers.

  • As I did more research, I kind of just, like, crossed off one after another.

  • So I didn't want to go to medical school because it was just too much schooling and I wasn't passionate about it enough to really put myself through all that.

  • So just, like, went down the list.

  • I looked at being maybe like a pa.
