  • Hi.

  • Welcome back to eat your crust podcast.

  • I'm Jisoo.

  • I'm Crystal.

  • And I'm Elise.

  • So today we have a really cool guest and also a really cool topic to discuss.

  • Elise is the wonderful podcast host of craving food freedom, and she's actually a dietitian, so she's bringing to the table a lot of her professional knowledge.

  • But today we really wanted to dive in a little bit deeper into the topic of body image and food and understand how a background as a dietitian or nutritionist can really help you sort of figure out and understand that internally and externally for clients as well.

  • So welcome, Elise.

  • Thank you for having me, you guys.

  • I'm so excited to be here.

  • We're so excited to have you as well, and I think our conversation will be really great.

  • So why don't I just kick this off by asking you, when did you start being, quote unquote body sentient, aware of your body and how it looks?

  • This is such a great question because as kids, I'm gonna just go and bring in some information about how kids realize that they have a body.

  • At three to four years old, we start to realize, like, oh, I have a nose, I have hands, I have an arm.

  • And then about four to five years old, we start to notice, oh, Ashley, my friend, also has a nose, and she has an arm.

  • And then over time, we start to realize, oh, Ashley's nose is smaller than my nose.

  • Her arm is smaller than my arm.

  • Her leg is bigger than my arm.

  • So as the years go on, we start to compare.
