21 分钟Hi, this is Harry and welcome back to my advanced English lessons where I try to help you to speak better English.
And particularly in these lessons that we have been doing recently,
we're focusing on helping you with the English you need to use at work.
So, our topic for today is what to say when someone interrupts you before you finish.
So, we're looking at a problem that is very typical.
Everybody's experienced it in a meeting at some stage.
So it could be one of these situations.
You're explaining something.
You finally managed to get into the conversation or into the discussion.
You know exactly what you want to say.
Perhaps you're explaining why a deadline is going to be difficult to meet.
Or perhaps you're raising a concern about a client
or even trying to explain why you disagree with someone's decision or perhaps a review.
So that's every day.
Typical issues that you've come across in the workplace.
So there are four steps leading up to these sorts of interruptions.
So if English isn't your first language, it can be very, very difficult for you.
So you might know exactly what you want to say, but it's taking you a little time to get into the conversation.
Then number two.
You organize the words in your head and you practice them and you're halfway through your explanation.
