discussion keeps the world turning.
This is Roundtable.
The Great Wall has stood for centuries, but starting this March, how Beijing protects it is changing forever.
There are new rules, smarter tech, and tighter oversight.
The question is, will the new approach save the wall from the millions who love it and visit it every single year?
And if it works here, could it reshape heritage protection across the country?
This is Roundtable.
I'm Steve.
Thank you very much for sharing your time with us today.
And for the show, I'm with Fei Fei and Yuxian.
First up.
Starting March 1st, Beijing's brand new Great Wall Protection Regulation officially came into effect,
and it marks a major change in how the city safeguards or will safeguard
one of the world's most iconic cultural landmarks.
The new regulation introduces smarter monitoring,
clearer responsibilities, long-term funding mechanisms, and it also manages public access quite carefully as well.
It's a vision that blends law with technology, with culture.
Also community as well.
So what does this look like in practice?
That's what we're going to learn about today.
