Less than four months before the November midterm elections, President Trump delivered a primetime address
last night where he once again questioned the results of past elections and raised concerns about future wants.
Every American deserves to know that when they cast their vote,
that vote will be counted accurately in a system, and that is to make that system secure.
One where cheating and interference are not just difficult, but virtually impossible.
Unfortunately, the system we have today falls catastrophically short.
The president also described mail-in ballots as inherently corrupt.
In his address, Trump did not provide evidence of widespread illegal voting in recent elections
that would validate his persistent claims that elections are rigged.
The White House says U.S.
Customs and Border Protection will continue making traffic stops as part of their immigration enforcement efforts.
This follows recent deadly shootings involving ICE in Texas and Maine.
President Trump took to social media this week to support the continuation of traffic stops,
as NPR's Kat Lonsdorf reports.

Quote, We cannot give up one of ICE's most important and effective crime-fighting tools, he wrote.
The office of Senator Angus King, an independent from Maine,
had confirmed to NPR on Tuesday that the Department of Homeland Security had planned to make the policy shift.
