Buona giornata anche a voi.
Scusi, grazie.
Grazie.
I'm enjoying an iced coffee in an open cafe overlooking Teatro Massimo, one of the most famous opera houses in Italy.
Now these cobblestone streets are buzzing with activity, both from locals
and tourists visiting this historic city of Palermo.
It's the capital of Sicily, a popular island in the south of Italy.
At first glance, everything here feels normal.
But beneath what you can see is another story.
For decades, the mafia, a criminal group made of several families,
built a network of power through fear, extortion and silence.
Since the 1990s, one organization has been fighting back.
So I'm here to dig out a new story from Palermo,
a story of courage and community that's standing up against the mafia.
