Discussion keeps the world turning.
You're listening to Roundtable.
I'm Steve Hatherly today with Feifei and Yushin.
Coming up, Australia just fired the first shot in the fight over AI and music.
Fully AI-generated recordings are now banned from the country's official charts and its biggest awards.
But, and this is the interesting part, AI-assisted tracks can still qualify,
provided a human is genuinely behind the creative work.
Okay, but there's a problem.
No one can agree on what that actually means.
Some artists are embracing AI as a tool to push their sound further,
but others see it as an existential threat to their craft and their income.
Australia has drawn the line in the sand and the rest of the world is watching to see if it holds.
