Dear sugar is supported by the universe has good news for the lost, lonely, and heartsick sugar is here, the both of us speaking straight into your ears.
I'm Cheryl strayed.
I'm Steve Almond.
This is dear sugar radio.
Oh, dear son, won't you please share some little sweetness with me?
I check my bell vibes every day.
Oh, in the sugar you see in my way.
Hey, Cheryl.
Hi, Steve.
So today we're going to talk about pot.
Yes, and as somebody who is not a devout pot user, but a pretty happy content pot user, this letter was pretty illuminating because it made me aware that it is also a drug.
And like any drug, it's in the hands of the user, how serious you use it and what kind of problems it wreaks in your life.
And so, you know, this for me was a little bit of a wake up call.
I have pot in this category of totally benign, and that is a toweringly stupid and naive perspective.
And this letter is evidence of that.
Right?
I think you're not alone in that belief.
We seem to have no problem being able to think about alcohol as being both something that's really destructive to many people and also something that's celebrated and used with great pleasure and moderation.
And yet we've not.
Yet, I think, as a culture, come to think about marijuana in that same way.
