Hello, I'm Celia Hatton.
Welcome to NewsHour from the BBC World Service, coming to you live from our studio in central London.
Today, we're unraveling what happened on board passenger flight FZ1073.
It took off from Dubai Airport just after 3 a.m.
Local time, carrying around 150 people.
Most were Israelis.
The flight was headed to Tel Aviv.
But approximately two and a half hours into the flight, something went very wrong.
An emergency code was signaled, and that code was briefly switched to a hijacking alert.
Videos, widely circulating on social media,
are helping us piece together what happened on board that flight before its unscheduled landing in Saudi Arabia.
This is said to be the moment the plane took a rapid plunge.
You can hear a distressed woman saying in Hebrew, what is going on?
