单集文稿 ...

  • Hi, everybody.

  • My name is Shauna, and this is the American English Podcast.

  • My goal here is to teach you the English spoken in the United States.

  • Through common expressions, pronunciation tips,

  • and interesting cultural snippets or stories, I hope to keep this fun, useful, and interesting.

  • Let's do it.

  • Hello, and welcome back.

  • I'm Shawna, your host,

  • and today we're going to take a trip around the world by learning country names and nationalities.

  • This will be a pronunciation exercise and a quiz or a game.

  • I'm not really sure what to call it.

  • I just want to test you to see how much you know.

  • So yeah, why this and why now?

  • Well, since the World Cup is bringing together countries from all over the world,

  • I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to learn the names of some of those countries in English.

  • And over the past week and a half, I've had to ask Lucas, like, what is the equivalent of Dutch in Portuguese?

  • Or how do you say Japanese in Portuguese?

  • And I figure if I have these questions, then you might also.

  • So this is going to be pretty fun and useful, especially in the upcoming weeks.

  • So here's how today's episode works.
