And today I was thinking, Jack, you know, we've started this podcast as kind of a hobby, kind of new job.
We've been english teachers for a really long time, but what was your first job when you were in maybe high school or university?
What was your first part time job?
My first part time job was actually when I was maybe twelve or 13 years old.
It wasn't a, it wasn't a serious job.
Yeah, that's quite young.
But I, again, I played a lot of sports when I was young.
And so when I, when I turned 1212 and 13, in America, we move into the, into middle school, 7th and 8th grade.
And so what, what the city does is they ask, like, sports players who are 13 or 1412, 1314 in middle school to be umpires for baseball games.
And so an umpire is a person who, a referee, a referee, basically.
And I did, I was a referee for basketball also.
And, yeah, so we, I would go to the games and I would stand, I don't know if our listeners are familiar with baseball, but baseball has, you have a pitcher and a catcher, and the pitcher throws the ball to the catcher and then the batter tries to hit the ball as the pitcher throws the ball to the catcher.
And I would stand behind the catcher and we call balls and strikes and make other, you know, plays on the field.
And it's an, it was an interesting job because what I discovered is that not all grown ups are nice people.
Some, yeah, especially with sports.
