  • Welcome to an A to Z English quick chat.

  • Today we've got an interesting topic that we're each going to share.

  • And remember that everyone can check the website for study guide, vocabulary notes and discussion questions, as well as links to our WhatsApp and Facebook and other social media.

  • So you can join the discussion as well.

  • And this week, we wanted to talk about teachers because, you know, we are teachers, but we've also had some, some very important teachers in our lives.

  • So, Jackson, who were some important teachers for you?

  • Yeah.

  • So I've had a few teachers in my life from elementary, high school, and university and graduate school that really affected me in a big way.

  • And I don't know if they even know how much they positively affected my life, you know, because I think sometimes we forget to go back and tell our teachers, you know, by the way, you really had a profound effect on me, and they might not even know it.

  • I think most of the time we don't go back.

  • Yeah, I think most of the time you just, you know, we just hold on to that.

  • And so I received a really nice letter recently from a student who had really nice things to say to me.

  • And it felt really good because sometimes you feel like you're, as a teacher, you're just kind of quietly going along and you're not sure if you're really, you know, making any progress with students sometimes.

  • And when you get feedback that's, that's positive, it really does make you feel good.

  • So I'm going to start with my fourth grade teacher, Mister Forrest.

  • And Mister Forrest was a, I think he was a progressive educator because he didn't, it wasn't the, it wasn't the traditional kind of educational material that I was, that I was used to in elementary school.

  • What Mister Forrest did that was so amazing was he taught us how to play chess.

  • And.

  • Yeah, which was really cool because in fourth grade, you know, that's, that's a good age to start learning something like, like playing chess.

  • Because chess is a, it's not an easy game to learn.
