单集文稿 ...

  • Hi, listeners.

  • Welcome to another episode of the A Z English Podcast.

  • Today we're going to be playing am I the jerk?

  • Jack is going to read an excerpt off of a situation, and we're going to discuss whether the person involved is the jerk or not.

  • Let us know what you think in the chat.

  • All right, so here is the situation.

  • This person writes, I've been married for five years and have a good relationship with my wife's family, but lately I've been feeling a lot of pressure to attend a dinner with them every weekend.

  • I like my wife's family, but I feel like I need some time for myself, too.

  • My wife was upset with me because I declined the invitation to dinner last night, and now we're arguing about it.

  • I want her to understand that I love spending time with her family, but I also want to have some time to myself.

  • Am I the jerk for not wanting to attend dinner with my wife's family every weekend?

  • So there's our situation.

  • Okay, so we're going to give our verdict here.

  • Yes.

  • I personally don't think he's a jerk.

  • I actually could.

  • I get why her feelings are hurt, especially if she really values quality time with, like, the people she loves, or if her, like, love language is quality time.

  • But I don't think he's wrong.

  • Like, there are no jerks here, I guess.

  • I don't think he's wrong because I get, like, I get the wanting to spend time with people, but just, like, the weekend when you don't have work, it's so nice to be able to just chill at home and not talk to anyone.
